NON-PROFIT

RRCB

The mission of RodRides Community Built is to provide multi-generational hands-on learning opportunities that have their roots in the history of the communities that they serve. RRCB is a 501c3 non-profit that is funded by the support of people like you.

Project One

The Opa

Project One:

Opa, a ‘34 Chevy One-Ton Truck

The theme of this RRCB project is the truck’s original owner, Mel Ellenwood, who is known as Opa by his family. Learn more about Mel Ellenwood and everything he is to his family in the RRCB Featured Real People Story.

Mel is a builder and artisan by profession and looks to promote classical and creative arts and craftsmanship amongst our youth.

He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and RRCB purchased the truck from him. The truck last ran decades ago.

The Goal:

Mel is a creative visionary that sees a way to utilize everything in an innovative way. His vision of the truck was for it to be used for his building business. Our goal is to outfit the back end of the truck with building tools and create a mobile workshop for youth programs in our community.

Needs:

The whole principle of RRCB is a project that is community built or built by the community surrounding it.

This project needs a garage for it’s restoration, funding (i.e. monetary or in-kind donations), sponsors, and mechanics willing to instruct youth 16 and up. If full funding is achieved, this building of this truck will be followed through a production company and be entered into a booth at the most notable car event in the world, SEMA, where the build team will be recognized.
